This file consists of 29 records covering the late 19th and early 20th century. It contains material reflecting the life of the bourgeoisie of Chania, as well as other themes by important photographers, such as Behaeddin, Periklis Diamantopoulos etc.

The Museum’s Ceramic Collection contains approximately 3.000 objects date from early Christian to post-Byzantine times. The collection consists primarily of tableware, cookware, vessels for transportation and storage, lamps and tomb pottery. It also contains a large number of fragments from excavations.

The collection includes postal cards from the period 1904-1918. They depict places of Macedonia, economic activities of the rural population and portraits of Macedonian Fighters (Makedonomachoi). Most of the postal cards have notes in French.

The photographic material of the archive emanates from various sources. The main subject of the collection is Greek Vlachs, whereas an important part includes the unknown -until recently- artistic creations of brothers Manakia, the photographers who were the pioneers of the cinema in the Balkans. The collection depicts scenes from the late 19th and the early of the 20th century; included are photographs of typical patters of settlements and Vlah population around 1900. Considering the collection as a total, helps reversing several stereotypical theories as well as understanding the various cultural, social and economic identities of the Vlach populations.

The photographs depict the period of military conflicts in Macedonia during 1904-1908. Available is also photographic material from the First Balkan War (1912). There are pictures of cultural and musical associations of Macedonia, as well as of social and school activities. The majority of the photographs portrays military guerrilla groups and portraits of Greek Macedonian Fighters (Makedonomachoi).

The album includes 423 photographs of the period 1904-1908, which depict cities and communities/towns of Greek Macedonia, the social and economic life in villages of Greek Macedonia, as well as the urban landscape of Thessaloniki.

This file consists of 130 records covering the late 19th century to 1930. It comprises landscapes of the cities and the prefectures of Rethymno, Heraklio and Lasithi by important photographers such as Behaeddin, Periklis Diamantopoulos etc.
