Collection of manuscripts “Emm. N. Georgakakis”
The collection consists of one file comprising 187 records. The material covers the period 1910 - 1933.This collection contains press cuttings about Emm. Georgakakis, Eleftherios Venizelos and military matters of the period, the diaries and notes of Georgakakis and his comrades in arms during several wars from 1912 to 1921, as well as his diplomas and credentials for his participation in those wars and battles.Moreover, the collection contains military documents (orders, notes, reports, correspondence, certificates etc) from the war of North Epirus (1914), the Ukraine campaign (1919) and the Asia Minor campaign (1920, 1921).It also contains official reports on important military achievements, such as the liberation of Metsovo (1912), the occupation of Korytsa etc., as well as military and personal correspondence of Georgakakis with his comrades and his captain Geogrios Tsontos-Vardas.

Giannis Megas Collection
The collection includes rare photographs, some of which were published in "Le Monde illustré" (1903, 1908) and "L’Illustration" (1876, 1903, 1908, 1909) magazines, as well as early postal cards (19th-20th c.). Various subjects are depicted: Greeks and Bulgarians, stars of the military and diplomatic campaign of that period, important historical events, such as the Ilinden uprising, the Macedonian Struggle, the Youngturkish movement, the Balkan Wars, the World War I etc. The collection is an exceptional sample of the topography and anthropography of that period

Photographic Archives
This digital collection is part of the Benaki Museum’s Photographic Archives Department, which was established in 1973 to collect, preserve and document photographs of Early Christian, Byzantine and post-Byzantine art and architecture. Since then the Department’s original scope has gradually been extended to cover images of Greece and its culture, as well as its history and contemporary society. The Photographic Archives Department comprises 300,000 negatives and 25,000 original photographs dating from the 19th and 20th centuries. It was created through the purchase or donation of important collections, including those of the professional photographers Nelly's, Voula Papaioannou, Pericles Papachatzidakis, Dimitris Harissiadis, Nikolaos Rizos, Nikolaos Tombazis, as well as those of the amateur photographers Rena Andreadi, Stephanos Malikopoulos, Loukas Benakis, and Ioannis Charamis. The Department also contains the photograph collections of the Byzantinologist Laskarina Boura, the architect Maria Zagorisiou, and the writer Elli Papadimitriou. The Photographic Archives Department is open to all researchers. For their assistance a card catalogue of 50,000 prints was compiled based on subject matter and location. Moreover, there are plans create a complete electronic catalogue of the entire collection in the near future.

Archival Collection "Georgios Bousios"
The material covers two periods: the first part refers to the year of 1916 and the second to the period of 1920-1922, with emphasis on September 1922.G. Bousios' political correspondence with politicians, members of the armed forces and other officials of Macedonia on the occupation of Grevena and the course of the First World War.Also, political correspondence, during G. Bousios' term of office as Minister of Interior (1922), as well as of the two previous years.

Culture and the Left in the 20th century
The digital archival collection “Culture and the Left in the 20th century” attempts to portray the relation between Greek left and art and culture during the 20th century (1900-1974): ideological trends, art movements, discussions on art and culture, literature, fine arts. The main objective of this archive was to focus on the discussions on culture and not on the works of art themselves. The vast majority of the selected material comes from newspapers, journals and books. The digital material is divided in three categories (publications, archival material, photographs), is incorporated in the database in a chronological order and is available to the public.
