Die Sammlung beinhaltet Aufnahmen zu Trachten und Trachtentänzen aus den Regionen Allgäu, Niederbayern, Oberpfalz, Ries und Schwaben. Die Fotografien sind Bestandteil der Fotosammlung Groth-Schmachtenberger. Diese befindet sich seit 1986 im Besitz der UB Augsburg.
