Anhand von Texten, Abbildungen und Filmausschnitten wird in dieser digitalen Sammlung nicht nur Filmgeschichte als Werkgeschichte präsentiert, sondern es werden auch die vielfältigen sozial-, kultur- und wirtschaftshistorischen Aspekte des Themas beleuchtet. Unter anderem beinhaltet die Sammlung Informationen und Materialien zu Kinodenkmälern, Kinoreformbewegungen und den Filmen „Die Hermannsschlacht“ von 1924 und 1994/1995.
