Abstract
A collection of the most precious objects of sacred art:- “Lamentation” painting from about 1450, tempera on wood, an outstanding example of Lesser-Poland panel painting. It blends features of international and “broken” style. It is published in the most important studies on Polish Gothic art next to Lamentations from Chomranice and Czarny Potok. It comes from church of the Holy Cross in Żywiec (14th century).- The Virgin and Child with St Anne from about 1380, wooden sculpture, polychromed, precious example of Silesian sculpture. It comes from church of the Holy Cross in Żywiec (14th century).- Sculptures “Saint Catherine” and “Saint Barbara” dating back to the beginning of 16th century, coming from chapel of St Vitus in Stary Żywiec.- “Virgin Mary Enthroned with a Child” (Madonna with a Wild Strawberr), painting from about 1460 - 1477- Virgin Mary with SS. Andreas and Peter (“Sacra Conversazione”), Gothic painting dating back to beginning of 16th century, tempera on wood, fragment of triptych.It comes from Łekawica.- Virgin Mary with SS. Nicolas and Stanislas (“Sacra Conversazione”), Gothic painting dating back to beginning of 16th century, tempera on wood, fragment of the triptych. It comes from Łekawica.- “Resurrection of Lazarus”, painting from about 1560, tempera on wood, comes from the church of the Holy Cross in Żywiec.- “Christ and St. Veronica” from about 1550, tempera on wood, comes from the church of the Holy Cross in Żywiec
