Louis Alphonse de Brébisson (1798-1872) écrivit en 1852 un ouvrage sur la photographie au collodion mais fut également un botaniste comme en témoignent d’ailleurs certaines de ses photographies de plantes ou de paysage. Il fut un des premiers à couvrir les paysages de Normandie, région dans laquelle il reste connu comme un des pionniers de la photographie. Le service dispose de 635 clichés sur plaques de verre collodion ou albumine réalisés entre 1850 et 1865.
