Die Sammlung beinhaltet Aufnahmen zu Leonhardi- und Georgiritten. Diese sind Prozessionen zu Pferde, die dem Brauchtum in Süddeutschland und Österreich zuzuordnen sind. Die Fotografien sind Bestandteil der Fotosammlung Groth-Schmachtenberger. Diese befindet sich seit 1986 im Besitz der UB Augsburg.
